Nelson Goerner has established himself as one of the most outstanding pianists of his generation.

His recitals and solo performances with the most prestigious orchestras in the world arouse great enthusiasm from the specialised critics: “one of the greatest living pianists" described Nelson in the Daily Telegraph; "an aristocrat of the keyboard... comparable to Rubinstein and Lipatti", highlighted the BBC Music Magazine.

Nelson has performed at Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Wigmore Hall and South Bank Centre in London, Salle Gaveau in Paris, among others. He is also frequently invited to perform at festivals such as Verbier, Salzburg, Edinburgh, La Roque d'Anthéron, Piano aux Jacobins de Toulouse, Schleswig Holstein, Chopin, and BBC Proms.

He frequently collaborates with orchestras of great prestige, including the London Philharmonic, BBC Philharmonic, National Orchestras of Scotland and Wales, Manchester Hallé, MDR Leipzig, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Sinfonia Varsovia, Dutch Radio Philharmonic and the Vienna, Singapore, and NHK Tokyo Symphonies.

He has been conducted by maestros such as Alain Altinoglu, Myung-Whun Chung, Lawrence Foster, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Paavo Järvi, Mark Elder, Vasily Petrenko, Fabio Luisi, Frans Bruggen, Jonathan Nott, or Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, among others.

In chamber music, he has collaborated with Martha Argerich, the Takacs Quartet, Janine Jansen, Valeriy Sokolov, Steven Isserlis, Gary Hoffman, Sol Gabetta, and the Gautier brothers and Renaud Capuçon.

Under the Alpha Classics label, his discography includes works by Albéniz, Chopin, Beethoven, Brahms, Debussy, Schumann, Fauré and Franck. His albums have received several awards, including a Gramophone for his Brahms, Diapason d'Or of the year for his recording of Debussy; BBC Music Magazine Recording of the Month for his Schumann works; Choc de Classica and Diapason d'Or for his Chopin preludes; as well as resounding critical acclaim for his recording of Beethoven's Sonata No. 29, op. 106, "Hammerklavier". He has also been awarded the Gloria Artis prize, the most important cultural distinction in Poland, and was honoured by the Konex Foundation with the Konex Platinum Prize in 2019.

Nelson Goerner was born in San Pedro, Argentina and studied in Buenos Aires with maestros Jorge Garrubba, Juan Carlos Arabian, and Carmen Scalcione. In 1986, he made his debut at the Teatro Colón, with Orquesta Filarmónica de Buenos Aires, performing Liszt's Concerto No. 1. He later moved to Europe, under a joint scholarship from the Arts and Science Council of the CIMAE Foundation and the Argentine Mozarteum; and in 1990, following his studies with Maria Tipo at the Geneva Conservatory, he won First Prize in the city's International Competition for Musical Performance.

“A stratospheric pianist and a musician of pure genius, an eminent interpreter of Chopin, he plays with shadows and light [...] But it is undeniably in the Debussy section of his recital that the Argentine pianist touches the sublime”
